Thank You

I wanted to thank him
for undeserving kindness,
and safe, gentle arms,
that time the world
got too heavy
and I was too weak.
I wanted to thank him,
for tears shared,
and hands grasping
for something to hold on to.
I wanted to thank him
for sleepless nights,
voices in the dark
looking for answers.
I wanted to thank him
for showing me what
being thankful really means,
and how,
by simply being there,
he saved my life altogether.
